12 days tour to by flight/drive to Arbaminch, Ziway, Langano, Shashemane and other omo valley places.
Day 01: Fly / Drive to Arba Minch via Ziway, Langano, Shashamene and Sodo 505kms / 10/11hrs
Arba Minch (Forty Springs) derives its name from the innumerable little springs that bubbles up in the evergreen forest covering the flats below the town. It is the site of the only ground-water forest.
Day 02: Full day at Arba Minch
Make a short detour to Chencha, the home of the Dorze people, known for their bamboo, bee-hive shaped houses and their fine quality cotton “shamma”. Late afternoon, enjoy the boat trip over Lake Chamo viewing of hippos and crocodiles from a very close range.
Day 03: Drive to Jinka via Konso, Weyto and Key Afer, about 265kms / 4hrs
Make a drive through the Konso village; whose people are known for their intricately terraced hillsides, fine woven materials and the carved totems with which they decorate their graves.
Day 04: Drive to Mago National Park/ Mursi, about 160kms / 4hrs for round trip
Drive to visit the Mursi villages; they go in for body scarification and (among the women) the wearing of lip plates.
Day 05: Drive to Turmi via Key afer and Dimeka, about 128kms / 3 – 4 hrs
The Hamer are a fine looking people, both men and women take great pride in their appearance, shaving and coloring their hair, oiling their bodies and decorating themselves with beads and bracelets worn around arms and legs.
Day 06: Excursion to Murulle, about 150kms / 5 – 6 hrs
The area of Karo people, among the people living along the Omo, the Karo excel in face and body painting. Have a short drive to the near by village of Kolcho located on a very good view of River Omo.
Day 07: Excursion to Omorate to visit the Dhasanech villages, about 158kms / 4hrs drive for the round trip.
Day 08: Drive to Yabello via konso en route visit the Arbore village, about 285kms / 6hrs drive
Day 09: Borena the semi –Nomadic men, have special songs “singing well”, forming a chanting human chain to haul buckets of water from the well to its lip roughly 50m away.
Then drive to a small village on the rim of a Saline Crater Lake known as Chew Bet (Salt House) or Ili Sod.
Day 10: Drive to Yirgalem, about 250kms / 4hrs
Pass through a number of coffee and various fruit cultivating towns with splendid greenery everywhere.
Day 11: Full day at the Lodge.
Enjoy the traditional life style of the Sidamo people and the making process of their traditional bread from false banana, which is quite interesting, and a good experience.
Day 12: Drive back to Addis Ababa, about 320kms / 5hrs drive
